Fire Starter Kit with Fatwood & Ferro Rod
Somewhere in every family there's a person who says, "I can start a fire with one match." Somewhere in every family there's also a box of matches that sat through a rainy camping trip and is now a box of very small, very sad sticks.
Our Fire Starter Kit is for the second situation. The ferro rod throws hot sparks when you scrape it with the striker, and a damp day bothers it far less than it bothers a box of matches (or the lighter someone "borrowed"). The fatwood does the rest. These are resin-rich pine sticks that catch quickly and burn long enough to coax your kindling to life, which is why fire-pit veterans and grandpas everywhere swear by them.
It's a lovely little gift for backyard fire-pit nights, wood stoves, camping weekends, and the junk drawer that should really have something useful in it. And it's a calm, simple way to practice an old skill together on a quiet evening, marshmallows strongly encouraged.
Good to know
- Use only in fire pits, stoves, grills, or other safe outdoor fire areas, and follow local burn rules and bans.
- Keep water or an extinguisher nearby, and never leave a fire unattended.
- The striker and sparks are not toys. Keep the kit away from children.
- Store fatwood in a dry place away from heat sources.
