The Black Beard Ferro Rod is a thick, extra-large ferrocerium rod that throws a big shower of hot sparks when scraped with the included striker. Sparks are not bothered by wind the way a match flame is, which makes a ferro rod a dependable backup in a camping pack, car kit, or home emergency kit.

FAQs
What is a ferro rod?
A ferrocerium rod is a fire starting tool made from a blend of metals. Scraping it with a hard striker produces hot sparks that ignite tinder.
Does it work in wet conditions?
Yes. The rod itself still sparks when wet; just dry it off and have dry tinder or a fire starter ready.
Can I use it in cold weather?
Yes, a ferro rod sparks in cold temperatures.
Use fire tools only in safe outdoor fire areas, follow local burn rules, and keep them away from children.
